Chapter 2:  Broken




Laying on his bed Adam is attempting to watch T.V., to forget about today...but he couldn't pay attention his mind is racing. He didn't want Tommy to see how upset he was about all of this, so he pretended and faked, he wanted to be there for his friend no matter how much it hurt him on the inside, and right now.  He knew it would have been a matter of time when Brad would do this, like he has with every other person he has dated..it hurt him knowing it was going to happen, and he would be right where he is today...and he did, and here they are.
Sighing Adam turned off his T.V., and turned off to his side, pulling out his I-phone seeing that there was one missed text message.


To: Adam
   From: Tommy<3<3

Adam... help me, I don't know what to do.

Adam read the text message and frowned typing one back.


  To: Tommy<3 <3
             From: You

I can't help in a decision that is up to you Tommy. You got yourself into a relationship with              him, despite me and other people warning you so it's up to you to find out what to do now.
I'd hate to be blunt, I'm sorry. As your best friend I can't tell you what to do.


Adam felt like shit after hitting the send button but it's true, it isn't up to him to tell Tommy to break up with his boyfriend no matter how much he wanted Tommy to. He doesn't want to be blamed for something that would happen because it was him who told him to do it.

Sighing Adam set his phone on his end table getting up from the bed, sitting on the ledge of his bay window peering out of it seeing his own reflection.

"What does he have that I don't?" he sighed going over a list of things in his head and it doesn't match up it just doesn't.  

It's because you haven't told him.

"Shut up." Adam yelled at himself.


"I only came up to see if you wanted dinner." Lelia frowned, making Adam jump and look back towards his mother at the door.

"Oh I wasn't talking to you mom. But, I'm not hungry."

"Okay honey." Lelia smiled, but her eyes held something else.

"Do you want to talk about anything?" she asked walking more into the room but Adam shook his head.

"It's nothing mom really, why don't you relax. I'm fine." Adam smiled one of his best fake smiles, hoping his mom buys it, when she left he sighed in relief, looking back out the window seeing Tommy at his window looking out to.

'How long was he there?' Adam thought to himself, he looked back at Tommy who seemed to be motioning him or something.

Rolling his eyes at Tommy's stupidity not to call him he opened his window and Tommy did the same.

"What!" Adam screamed loud enough for his voice to carry next door.

"Come over here please. Use the ladder." Tommy pointed down towards the ladder.

"You couldn't call me or text me telling me to do that?" Adam questioned confused and Tommy just turned around walking back towards his bed.

"Fuck." Adam mumbled closing his window and running down the stairs.

"Change your mind?" Lelia laughed.

"No, going to Tommy's." he stated running towards the door ignoring the smirk that was on his mothers face.

His mom knew about the feelings he had for Tommy for years now, and she questions him all the time about when they're going to get to together and it bugs him knowing Tommy doesn't return his feelings.    

'Why do I have to climb the fucking ladder, it's like I live here anyways.' Adam thought to himself climbing onto Tommy's roof and climbing through the open window seeing Tommy laying on his bed phone in his hand and a pained expression on his face.

"Why did you have me sneak in here?" Adam questioned sitting on the edge of Tommy's bed looking at him confused.

"Your at a doctors appointment remember!" Tommy laughed his eyes still not leaving his phone.

"And you couldn't call me why?" Adam questioned again and this time the phone got flung into Adam's arm.

"You don't know how to answer." Tommy said bluntly.

"Uhh.." and that's when Adam remembered he left his phone on his night stand and he smiled guiltily.
"Sorrrry." he laughed, putting his hands up in surrender.

Tommy laughed again shaking his head, grabbing his phone from Adam's hand then his face got serious.
"I made my decision." he mumbled staring into Adam's eyes.
"But I need you here with me, I don't think I can do it without you by my side." Tommy continued staring at the floor.
"Okay I'm here." Adam scooted closer to his friend and smiled.
"Do what you got to do. I'll support you in whatever."

Sighing, Tommy clicked a button on his phone and put it against is ear.

"Put it on speaker." Adam whispered, and Tommy did as he said.

"Tommy, baby... let me explain." the voice on the other end spoke after the second ring and Tommy's eyes flashed onto Adam's for a minute, biting his lip.


"What is there to explain. I know what I seen." Tommy mumbled bluntly into the phone that was sitting between him and Adam.

"I know what you seen Tommy, but you don't know how I feel or why. You weren't supposed to see it like that"  Adam rolled his eyes fighting not to speak. How pathetic can this kid be, Tommy better not fall for this assholes bullshit.

"I guess I don't," Tommy stated picking the nail polish of his thumb.

"Tommy..." Cheek's voice was soft and sweet in that way the always made Tommy melt, and Tommy stopped pretending.

"What Cheeks." Tommy's voice sounded wrecked, as if he were going to cry again and this made Adam   look up at his best friend worriedly.      

"Tommy did you ever think that maybe you belonged with someone else. I love you I do..." Cheeks kept on mumbling.
"but I believe that there is someone that loves you so much more then I do, and I feel that you love him too but you just don't know it yet. I'm letting you go not because I don't love you..but because I do... I want you to be happy, and I know you wont be your happiest with me....you may not realize it now." he whispered sadly.
"But you will, and the person that does love you will make you happy, he is a really sweet guy. He just needs to step up and show his feelings for you sweetie."

"Who is it?" Tommy choked into the phone, and Brad just laughed.

"If you love him as much as I think you do..you'll figure it out." Adam's eyes fell from Tommy's face looking at the floor as the phone went silent.


"Who do you think it is?" Tommy asked completely clueless making Adam's heart fall. How hard is it to figure out that your best friend loves you Tommy?
or better yet Adam how hard is it to tell your best friend you love him..or to show him

"I uh.. I don't know." Adam answered his and Tommy's own questions at the same time,  brushing his hair out of his face standing up from Tommy's bed his eyes still on the floor not daring to meet Tommy's brown eyes.

"Adam..?" Tommy whispered.
"Are you okay?"

You belong with me the words kept repeating in Adam's head.

"Yeah I'm fine." Adam shook the thoughts of his head faking a smile.
"I'm just tired, can we just hang out tomorrow." he whispered his smile becoming real when Tommy nodded.

"Good night." Tommy whispered following Adam to the window and watching as he climbed down and ran back into his house.

"Good night." Adam smiled, closing his front door biting his lip.

You can do this Lambert. 'I love you'... how hard can it be.
